Media: Clash of the Titans (1981)
Played by: Harry Hamlin and Judi Bowker
Setting: 1344 BC, Joppa
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Perseus is the illegitimate son of the god Zeus and a mortal princess, and the gods take a special interest in his life after the vengeful goddess Thetis deposits Perseus in the amphitheater of Joppa to find his destiny.
Princess Andromeda is Joppa’s beloved jewel and is sought by dozens of suitors, but her rejection of former suitor Calibos, Thetis’ son, has left her cursed to ask each suitor a riddle and put them to death when they inevitably cannot answer it.
Perseus arrives in Joppa and swears to rid the kingdom of the terrible curse after falling in love at first sight with Andromeda, but he soon discovers the nighttime ritual that Andromeda is forced to complete: traveling in a dreamlike daze to Calibos’ lair to receive the impossible riddles. After defeating Calibos and solving the riddle, Perseus is betrothed to Andromeda, but the lovers are separated once again when a vengeful Thetis curses Andromeda to be devoured by the fearsome Kraken. Perseus then embarks on the journey of his life, to destroy the Gorgon Medusa in order to save Andromeda before he loses her forever.
